Meet Dr. Rhoads
Stephanie Rhoads, DMD, MBE, MS
I am passionate about helping patients develop a strong sense of self-esteem through an illuminating smile. I love establishing long-lasting relationships with my patients and becoming invested in their lives and happiness.
I experienced the huge impact that a beautiful smile had on my life, confidence, happiness, and success, and knew that I wanted to be able to provide this experience for others. Even at a very young age, I admired the compassion and diligence of my orthodontist as he worked closely with me to create the smile that I had always dreamed of in a way that fit well into my busy life. I hoped to follow in his footsteps and my enthusiasm for orthodontics has grown exponentially since then. I strive for perfection in patient care and comfort.
I also enjoy the challenge of using both art and science to find the most efficient means of meeting my patients’ desires. Every patient is so unique, and I really enjoy providing personalized care to cater to each individual. Having the rare opportunity to work with so many different ages and personalities on a consistent basis is what makes this profession so much fun!
Commitment to Educational Excellence
- Boardman High School, Valedictorian
- University of Pittsburgh, Molecular Biology
- University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Doctorate of Dental Medicine
- University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Master of Bioethics
- University of North Carolina School of Dentistry, Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Orthodontics and Master of Science in Dentistry
- Board Certification, Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics
As a graduate of the University of North Carolina’s three-year residency program, I am well-versed in a wide variety of the most cutting-edge techniques to ensure that every patient is offered a treatment plan that will provide an optimal result in the least amount of time. It is extremely important to me to base decisions on peer-reviewed research and the most current information, which is why I both subscribe to and publish in our main orthodontic journal, the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Additionally, in 2014, I passed my Board Certification Exam, making me one of the few Board Certified Orthodonstists in the area who have taken on this additional challenge to verify my excellence in clinical orthodontics.
Technology is constantly advancing, and our practice will evolve over time to continue to offer the most recent advances in orthodontics to our patients. Additionally, I participate in both local and UNC alumni study groups on a regular basis, attend frequent continuing education courses throughout the country, and speak at meetings and among colleagues to offer insight into my research and my experiences as a clinician.
In addition to being a practitioner, I have an added responsibility and privilege in the field of dentistry based upon my background in bioethics. I dedicate time to serve as an advocate for dentistry and healthcare in general on ethics boards, quality assurance boards, and policy committees both in organized dentistry, as well as in local corporations. I have a commitment to supporting dental organizations and aiding in the assurance of quality care, patient advocacy, and the focus on ethics in everyday practice.
My professional affiliations include:

In the Community
I am a strong believer in giving back to the community and supporting young people who are working to fulfill their dreams and goals. I have been offered so much support as I've worked toward my goals, and I want to act as a mentor and resource to help others in the community fulfill their own dreams.
As a female, I believe that I am in a unique position to serve as a mentor to young women in my practice and in the community. I hope to encourage adolescent girls to develop confidence in themselves, to embrace their unique appearances, and to cultivate their talents to achieve their aspirations. I plan to support all young people in the community by providing shadowing opportunities, office scholarships, and an office staffed with role models who encourage young people in their every pursuit.
I feel blessed to be able to live and work in this community and I am completely invested in all aspects of the area. I want to be a part of my patients’ lives, and I feel that it is very important to support the community in which I am practicing. I hope to contribute to this incredible area by producing many smiling faces, as well as supporting the academics, careers, and extracurricular activities of my patients.
Originally from Boardman, Ohio, I currently reside in Mars, PA with my husband, Phil. We spend most of our free time enjoying our sweet daughters, Sadie who is 3 and Claire who is 1. When I am not spending time cuddling Sadie and Claire, I am most content when playing the piano, running, riding bikes, cheering on Pittsburgh sports teams, and spending time with family and friends. I am passionate about my family and providing them with the ongoing support and encouragement that they have always offered to me.
